Hants County occurs as county in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. A county of Hants was created June 17, 1781, & consisted of the town of Windsor, Falmouth & Newport. Originally sustaining its title from either a County of Southamptonshire in England, now called Hampshire, and abbreviated to Hants, a County was established away from a portion of what experienced been Kings County. A words of a minutes of the Council of Nova Scotia for June 17, 1781 produce it clear that the few feet away from either Horton (the Shire town of Kings County) & a inconvenience of crossing the Avon Flow of any stream to transact county business were factors which led to a separate county existence formed. 4 & the half years afterwards its boundaries were supplementary precisely defined & placed forth river per Governor & Council around 1785. A borderline of Hants were punctually surveyed & confirmed per Lieutenant Governor 1828. Afterwards within 1861, Hants County was divided into ii Dominion known as East Hants and West Hants.
